Puzzles and Baking

Our Nanny was able to spend a nice two weeks with us before flying back to New York. Whenever she is here we have to do puzzles. Like, it's a necessity.  We are kinda puzzle freaks at this house. Nanny always brings puzzles in her suitcase for us to do, but what typically happens is we finish those and start on the ones she gave us on her last visit!

The day before she flew back I took these shots of us puzzling. We almost lost count, but we figured out that this was the FIFTH  550 piece puzzle we did during her visit. It's a special activity we've always loved doing with her, and now we will always have it documented.

What did I say?  We're freaks.

After puzzles we started on a batch of chocolate chip cookies.

A Day in MY Life

 Lifestyle Sessions.

This is what I want to do. This is what I've wanted to do for a long time, but I never had the courage to turn it into a business. I think I'm finally ready to turn my photography style around and go back to photographing what I love.

REAL LIFE.

I've truly enjoyed my photography journey so far. My clients have been awesome, and so encouraging. I've been able to meet so many wonderful people over the years, and capture pictures that I hope will  be cherished forever.  I've learned SO much as well. I knew photography would always be part of my life, but my business wasn't going where I wanted it to. I did it all, newborns, families, seniors, engagement, weddings. There were too many ideas in my head, and my focus was all over the place!  Since moving to California I've had some time to think seriously about my business and figure out what I personally want to get out of my work, and where I want my focus to be.  There has been no clients, deadlines, or emails to respond to, just time to think. I've started photographing my daughter alot, like every mother does. Recording every single milestone and sending pictures to family in New York. I am reminded why I fell in love photography in the first place.

I want to document my life.

Now you can do that in a number of ways, but I find the best memories lie in the everyday simple things. The things that maybe don't seem significant as first, but looking back, they tell the entire story of your life at the exact time they were taken.  I want to FEEL those moments again, years from now.

The pictures below aren't perfect. I can only be so candid when using a tripod to photograph myself (especially with the baby!), but they are the best I could do on my own. The shots of just Grace are much more candid and real. Photographing another family interacting would be easier of course. But I feel happy with this session (it took two separate days to get these shots because I have to be mom,  and the photographer, lol). I hope you enjoy this post.   I will be officially restarting my business in the next couple of months, so if Lifestyle sessions are something you are interested in, please let me know!
I would love to get some feed back from all of you, as well!

Her First Six Months

Thought I would share this on my business page for those of you here. I made this yesterday after going through the gazillion video clips we took during our first six months of being parents. Sometimes video can be better than pictures. Anyone interested having video taken at their session and incorporated into a video/slide show as part of their package?

Little Blessing on the Way | Ellen Elizabeth Photography

So in case some of you don't know, my husband and I are expecting a little blessing at the beginning of March next year. I am 17 weeks today, and feeling great! Here are some pictures we took (with the help of a tripod) when we first found out we were expecting.

And here I am at 13 weeks when the baby was the size of a peach!
